This is gritty blues rock at it's finest. Wow, this is a great one that slipped up on me by taking a chance. There's a little Govt. I read the reviews and ordered it. It came and hasn't left the player. Mule, Black Crows, boogie blues all mixed in to an original sound. There isn't anything pretty here.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a heavy dose of guitar in their bluees. While I really enjoyed this album - I'm not sure who to recommend this to.It is different from most blus-rock albums out there now. This is loose, gritty, and has a almost live (studio live, that is) feel to it. Just. take a chance on this one.
I know those are strong words, but this is possibly one of the best albums ever created and it makes me angry this isn't the top selling album right now. Every lover of the blues should pick up this album.
It's hard to express just how much I love this album. I've been listening to it almost constantly since I got it for Christmas.
Marc Ford continues his success as a solo artist by releasing his third straight incredible album full of mean dirty blues, soul, and multi-textured sound-scapes. There are so many great songs on this album, but the one that sticks out most is "smilin.'" You can tell he knows a thing or two about guitars and getting great sounds out of them.
His first album "It's About Time" was more soul than blues. HIs second, "weary and wired" was mostly straight blues rock, and this one is a combination of the two, showing his growth as a guitarist and a songwriter.
It puts Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and basically all other blues guitarists to shame. In a perfect world, it would be.
Any blues afficianado, or anyone into music would find this album a revelation, as all of Marc Fords' albums, listening to him in the early days, I understood his impact as a guitar player immediately, incredibly soulful, but I am much more impressed by his solo efforts, the songwriting, and you will not do wrong at all by adding this to your collection of music. Please buy it full price, and that is nominal, if you or I do not do that, this wonderful music will dissapear. enjoy this album, pay for it, and it smokes.
Marc Ford is doing what he does best.just letting lose with his guitar. Ford stretches himself nicely on this CD. Hopefully he allows himself to continue to grow as an artist. This CD is puts him in that direction.
